About
URBAN Photo Awards is an international photography contest organised by the Trieste-based cultural association dotART around the theme Urban Life: Urban Photography – the city, its architecture and the people who live there. It is open to everybody and organised in sections for Single Photos (Street, People, Spaces, Creative, with partner categories such as New Buildings and Science+Fiction), Projects & Portfolios, the URBAN Book Award and special prizes. A separate URBAN Photo Arena contest is reserved for photographers under 35.
Entries are uploaded through the user area on the contest website, with a submission fee per photo, portfolio or book set out in the rules. The 17th edition's deadline was extended to Sunday 28 June 2026. Selected photographers are published on the website and the final ranking is announced during the Trieste Photo Days festival in autumn, where winners' work is exhibited.
The contest runs annually, with the 2027 edition expected to open in early 2027.
