About
The Swiss Art Awards (Swiss Federal Competition for Art, Architecture and Mediation) are awarded by the Federal Office of Culture on behalf of the Confederation. Individuals and groups apply through the online portal; a federal jury selects a first round and the second-round participants exhibit during Art Basel week, where the prizes are awarded. The 2026 exhibition ran 15–21 June 2026 in Basel.
The open call for 2027 runs from 23 October to 3 December 2026 on www.gate.bak.admin.ch. Detailed participation conditions (Swiss nationality or residence, age rules, prize amounts) are set out in the BAK Teilnahmebedingungen PDF; the awards site notes that artists under 30 should apply for the Kiefer Hablitzel | Göhner Kunstpreis instead. Organisations cannot apply.
