About
Skowhegan is an intensive nine-week summer residency programme for emerging visual artists held on a 350-acre campus in Madison, Maine, with a resident faculty and visiting artists. The 2027 session runs 5 June – 7 August 2027 and participants must attend the whole period.
Artists from anywhere in the world working in any medium may apply; applicants must be at least 21 by the start of the programme, and collectives may apply with up to two members attending. Admission is need-blind and decisions are announced about three months after the deadline (around January).
Tuition is $6,000, but more than 95% of participants in the past decade received full scholarships and no accepted artist is turned away for lack of funds. International travel grants are available; domestic travel is not covered.
