About
SAIKONEON runs a year-round artist-in-residence programme at Lake Saiko in Yamanashi Prefecture, near Mt. Fuji. Residencies last between 30 and 90 days and support research, creation and exchange across disciplines including visual art, design, literature, performance, music and manga/cartoon.
Selection is based on the originality and curiosity of the applicant and the strength of the proposed project. Applications are accepted throughout the year in Japanese or English via a downloadable application form.
No scholarships or financial aid are offered: residents cover all their own costs, arrange insurance and secure any visa required. Limited local transport support is available and exhibition space is generally not provided.
