About
The RSA Barns-Graham Travel Award, supported by the Barns-Graham Charitable Trust, is an annual £2,000 award from the Royal Scottish Academy for painters, printmakers or sculptors who are graduating in summer 2026 or are current postgraduate students at Gray's School of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone, Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow School of Art or the University of the Highlands and Islands. The award funds a period of research travel outside the UK; the resulting work is exhibited at the RSA and a work is donated to the RSA permanent collection.
Applications for 2026 are closed. The award runs annually, and the RSA advises checking back in early 2027 for the next round.
