About
Created in 2010 by the association COAL, the Prix COAL recognises artists whose projects engage with ecological transformation. Each year a theme is set; for 2026 it is La Nuit (the night). The main Prix COAL is EUR 12,000 including a residency at the Domaine de Belval; a Special Jury Prize of EUR 3,000 and partner mentions (Ateliers Médicis residency, Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles EUR 2,000 with exhibition, Nuits des Forêts EUR 3,000 forest residency) are also awarded. A parallel Prix COAL Étudiant is open to students of French art and culture schools.
Projects were submitted as a single PDF to upload.projetcoal.org by 28 April 2026, 23:59. Nominees are announced in summer 2026 and winners in autumn 2026 at the Sans Réserve event. The call is open internationally.
