About

MIXMASTER is the Mattatuck Museum's annual juried exhibition for its artist-members, intended to discover and recognise talent among emerging and established artists. The 2027 edition takes the theme Legacy, coinciding with the museum's 150th anniversary, and seeks recent work in painting, fiber, sculpture and other contemporary forms.

Artists must live in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Vermont and hold a current Mattatuck Museum membership at any level (from $15 a year) when submitting. Up to three works may be entered via ArtCall at USD $20 each.

Entries run 5 October to 13 November 2026, with notifications on 11 December 2026 and the exhibition from 20 February to 25 April 2027. First prize is $500 and a solo show at the museum in autumn 2027; second $300; third $200; staff selection and visitors' choice winners receive Director's Circle membership upgrades.
