About
Explore and Create is the Canada Council for the Arts' core programme for the development, creation and sharing of artistic work. Its Artistic Creation component funds Canadian artists, curators, groups and organisations for artistic research and experimentation, creation, production and public presentation, from first idea to public sharing.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis at any time before the start date of the project or activity, through the Canada Council's online portal; results are typically communicated within several months. Individual applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and meet the Council's definition of a professional artist.
Application assistance is available to applicants who are Deaf, hard of hearing, have a disability or live with mental illness, and to First Nations, Inuit or Métis applicants facing language, geographic or cultural barriers. Maximum grant amounts are set out in the component guidelines.
