About
Belfast Photo Festival runs an annual open submission inviting photographers, artists, curators, archives and collectives aged 16 or over, from anywhere in the world, to submit a series of 1-15 photographic or lens-based works, or a photobook. There is no theme or restriction on approach. Between 20 and 40 finalists are selected for exhibition during the festival in Belfast.
For 2026, early-bird entries ran 20 November to 30 December 2025 at £22, with standard entries at £26 until 11:59pm on 2 March 2026, submitted via Picter. Selected artists were notified by early April 2026, and the festival exhibition ran 5 to 30 June 2026. Awards include the £2,000 Spotlight Award, the Abridged Editorial Award and an All About Photo magazine interview. The call recurs annually, usually opening in November.
