About
The Art of Building is the Chartered Institute of Building's annual international photography competition celebrating the built environment: buildings, infrastructure and the people who shape and use them. It is free to enter and open to amateur and professional photographers aged 18 or over anywhere in the world.
For 2026, entries opened on 30 July and closed on 7 September. A judging panel shortlisted the strongest images, the public votes for its favourite between 21 September and 16 October 2026, and the winners are announced on 3 November 2026.
Two cash prizes of £1,500 are awarded, for the Public Choice and the Judges' Choice, and winning images receive wide media coverage. The competition runs every year.
